# The Perfect 3-Day Singapore Trip Using Only the Train

Explore the best of Singapore without ever hailing a taxi\! This 3-day itinerary covers all the major sights using only the highly efficient MRT system.

Singapore is famously one of the most expensive cities in the world, but getting around doesn't have to be. Thanks to the highly efficient, clean, and air-conditioned Mass Rapid Transit \(MRT\) system, you can explore almost every corner of the island without ever needing to hail a taxi. If you are planning a short getaway, here is the perfect 3-day Singapore itinerary using only the train network\!

## Day 1: The Iconic City Skyline

Start your trip with the sights that made Singapore famous worldwide.

###  Morning: Meet the Merlion

  * **MRT Station:** Raffles Place \(EW14/NS26\)
  * **The Plan:** Take a short stroll from the station to Merlion Park. Snap your obligatory photo with the half-lion, half-fish statue spouting water into Marina Bay, with the stunning Marina Bay Sands in the background.

###  Afternoon: Art and Architecture

  * **MRT Station:** Bayfront \(CE1/DT16\)
  * **The Plan:** Walk across the Helix Bridge to the lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum. Afterward, grab lunch at the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

### Evening: Gardens by the Bay

  * **MRT Station:** Bayfront \(CE1/DT16\)
  * **The Plan:** Head out to Gardens by the Bay. Explore the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome before sunset, and stay for the free Garden Rhapsody light and sound show at the Supertree Grove at 7:45 PM or 8:45 PM.

## Day 2: Heritage and Culture

Dive into Singapore's rich multicultural history by visiting its three most famous ethnic enclaves.

###  Morning: Chinatown

  * **MRT Station:** Chinatown \(NE4/DT19\)
  * **The Plan:** Visit the magnificent Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and the historic Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple. For lunch, head to the nearby Maxwell Food Centre for a plate of famous Hainanese Chicken Rice.

###  Afternoon: Little India

  * **MRT Station:** Little India \(NE7/DT12\)
  * **The Plan:** Exit the station and let the scent of spices guide you. Walk down Serangoon Road, visit the colorful Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, and browse the bustling stalls at the Little India Arcade.

###  Evening: Kampong Glam

  * **MRT Station:** Bugis \(EW12/DT14\)
  * **The Plan:** Walk over to Arab Street and Haji Lane. Marvel at the golden dome of the Sultan Mosque, then spend the evening exploring the indie boutiques, vibrant murals, and Middle Eastern eateries lining the streets.

## Day 3: Nature and Retail Therapy

Balance the tropical heat with some world-class shopping.

###  Morning: Singapore Botanic Gardens

  * **MRT Station:** Botanic Gardens \(CC19/DT9\)
  * **The Plan:** Beat the heat by visiting Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site early in the morning. Don't miss the National Orchid Garden, which boasts the largest display of tropical orchids in the world.

###  Afternoon: Orchard Road

  * **MRT Station:** Orchard \(NS22/TE14\)
  * **The Plan:** Hop back on the train to Singapore’s premier shopping belt. Whether you are looking for luxury brands at ION Orchard or high-street fashion, you can spend hours here. Most malls are connected underground, so you can shop in air-conditioned comfort\!

###  Evening: Clarke Quay

  * **MRT Station:** Clarke Quay \(NE5\)
  * **The Plan:** End your trip by the Singapore River. Enjoy a riverside dinner, take a bumboat cruise to see the city lit up at night, and soak in the vibrant nightlife.
